The sirloin steak for the meal was bought at SW Doughty in Doddington. The butcher shop has been in the family for four generations and is now run by Alison, great-granddaughter of the original owner.
Winner of a number of accolades across recent years, SW Doughty represents the best of independent local food. A lot of the produce sold in the shop originates very close by, including the beef. They work closely with local farmer Duncan Anderson.
People coming to the shop know that the meat they are buying has been reared in nearby fields, by people that have known each other and worked together for generations. They also know that the butchers in the shop know exactly what they’re doing, and can give customers exactly what they want.
Customers spoke about not only the importance of buying local but also the quality they get.
This video looks at some of the people involved in the business and some of the work they do.
